Football
The past month has been tough for Michigan football. The maze and blue lost their final two games and fired head coach Brady Hoke. With the head coaching position vacant, the long and difficult process of hiring a new head coach now begins. However, there is only one man that the Michigan athletic director should be offering the job to, Jim Harbaugh.
My reasoning for this is because, first, Harbaugh has a proven track record for turning teams around in both college and professional football. Being able to do this is a must have attribute for Michigan’s next coach.
Second, Harbaugh consistently created great offensive teams. Michigan’s offence for the past couple of years has been awful and could use a coach like Harbaugh to turn that part of the team around.
Lastly, the Michigan football community wants him to be the head coach. In my eyes I cannot see a more perfect person for the job.
Basketball
The Michigan men's basketball team is going through a rough patch. They are currently on a three game losing skid. Two of the games were lost at home to teams that in my eyes are really bad. Many people want to take this situation and say that Michigan is going to be very bad this year. I view it as a young Michigan team that is going through some growing pains.
When you take a step back and look at the big picture, many people didn’t expect Michigan to have a good basketball team for the past two years. Whether it was because they were too young, didn’t have enough depth, or just didn’t have the type of players to be successful.
In those two years Michigan made it to the national championship game and lost in the elite eight to a lucky buzzer beating three point shot. Also in those two years Michigan produced five first round NBA draft picks. Trey Burke, Tim Hardaway Jr, Nik Stauskas, Mitch Mcgary, and Glenn Robinson III.
It’s hard to replace that much talent in one year. So this Michigan basketball season might be considered a rebuilding year (like the previous two), however, it does not mean that this team can’t go far during March Madness.
